Childrens' Yoga & Mindfulness

Children's Yoga and mindfulness empowers children with tools and experiences to nurture their physical and mental health, taught in their language - play!

Passionate about getting children moving their bodies more during the school day, I share Children's Yoga in Bristol Primary Schools, as well as pop-up workshops and events.

Teaching with a child-centred approach, I aim to see every child as the unique individual they are. I offer choices and encourage co-creation of the lessons to support young children to feel empowered and have autonomy over their experience - they have the best ideas too!

Children are naturally imaginative and curious which is why playful and engaging yoga tools, and mind-body resources, can be so effective to support their wellbeing.

By exploring a series of short engaging games each session, with a mindful focus, children learn breathing tools, gain the health benefits of movement, and experience calming quiet rest. This helps young bodies to develop resilient nervous systems, able to self-regulate, in accessible and fun ways.

Yoga is fantastic because it can...

  • Increase physical literacy - strength, balance, co-ordination and mobility

  • Empower children to learn self-soothing, calming breathing tools

  • Improve posture, supporting a long and flexible spine

  • Offer mental health awareness and mindfulness tools

  • Develop positive self-awareness, awareness of others

  • Create healthy receptive brains

  • Encourage generosity, compassion and respect

  • Offer a non-competitive, accessible environment for all

  • Encourage positive communication and team work

  • Encourage creativity, self expression and fun

  • Help us recognise feelings / emotions within the body

  • Build inner strength and resilience

  • Develop focus and concentration

  • Develop sensory awareness

  • Teach self-care

  • Be fun!

Thank you so much for our Yoga Day during Sports Week. Every year group and the staff loved the games, learning the yoga poses and really enjoyed the relaxation stories.

The children have followed up by doing more yoga in class and using techniques to focus on their calm breathing. In the future, we would love to have you back at The Meadows.

I wanted to pass on how much I think our children have benefitted from having your yoga sessions this year. Not just the yoga but your presence with them is so calming and reassuring. This was noticed on our Raising Attainment visit last term & the School Council also talked about the benefits it brings of ‘being calm, feeling peaceful and resting worries!’. So thank you and we hope to work with you again next year.

Wow!  What a relaxing and energising break from our busy lives.  Carolyn created a calming space for both adults and children to concentrate on their bodies, senses and mind.

All children engaged fully in the sessions as they were fun, age appropriate and accessible to all.  Thank you for a great yoga workshop day

I liked the bit where we did the dancing, I did a funny wiggle dance and laughed

I liked it when we lay down waiting for the butterfly to land, it was
quiet and relaxing
